Abstract

Mussadiq is the most important statesman and politician in the history of Iran in the 20th century. Especially his anti-Shahlik attitude and his efforts to benefit the Iranian people more from oil revenues have placed him in a special place in the history of Iran. Mossadegh's childhood and youth passed at a time when Iran was the scene of the struggle for influence of foreign powers, these great powers obtained great privileges, and some intellectuals made intense efforts for the liberation and modernization of the country. He always opposed oppression. After a long struggle, Mossadeq, who won the elections, had the law on the nationalization and operation of oil and the oil industry passed by the parliament. He did not succumb to the threats of the British. He made speeches defending his country at the United Nations Security Council and The Hague Court of Justice. He was named statesman of the year by Time Magazine. He was overthrown by a coup d'etat organized by General Fazlullah Zahidi, who cooperated with the US and British intelligence agencies. On 21 December 1953, he was first sentenced to death, then his sentence was commuted to three years in prison. After being released from prison, Mossadiq was kept under probation at his home in Ahmedabad for a long time. He passed away on March 5, 1967 in Tehran and was buried in the garden of his home in Ahmedaba.

While he was the prime minister, Mussadik, who did not receive a salary and also took on the expenses of the prime minister, fought against the imperialist policies and their local collaborators for the free and independent life of his nation. This great statesman, who received all kinds of praise in world political history, will continue to live in the hearts of his people.
