Abstract
The regional security complex theory suggests supra-state security complexes within the international structure. In this context, regional studies have tried to classify states by putting them into certain categories. There are states that strive for leadership in each region, those that are in favor of these states, and countries of insulation. In this context, the role of Iran, which is an insulation unit between the Middle East and Asia also striving for regional leadership, in the security of the Middle East will be examined. The goal of the study is to reveal how Iran oppressed its competitors through its proxies at the sub-state level and increased its footprint in the region. The basic argument will be supported by statistical data, and some qualitative bases will be provided for the study. These inferences aim to give rise to both a theory test case and new fields of assumptions in a theoretical context.
